HEC Montréal

HEC Montréal

HEC Montréal is Canada’s leading business school. Founded more than a century ago, it is the first business school in North America to hold the world’s three most prestigious accreditations in management education (see below). HEC Montréal ranks consistently among the top business schools in the world.

The driving force behind HEC Montréal’s unparalleled expertise in arts and cultural management is the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux Chair in Arts Management, held by the internationally renowned Professor François Colbert. This Chair plays a leading role in research. In 1991 the Chairholder founded a major biennial scientific conference, the International Conference on Arts and Cultural Management (AIMAC), which brings together 200 to 300 researchers in cultural management from around the world. In addition, since 1998 the Chair has been publishing a peer-reviewed journal, the International Journal of Arts Management, three times a year, with a circulation of over 1,000 in nearly 50 countries. HEC Montréal’s arts management professors are collectively the most prolific in their field in terms of publishing in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to cultural management. HEC Montréal has also played a pioneering role in the teaching of cultural management in Quebec, through its highly successful Graduate Diploma in the Management of Cultural Organizations.
